A wedding cake consultation is a great way to share more about your wedding or special event with your baker. At Love + Sugar, we believe every moment deserves delicious celebration. Each bite tells a story of warmth, joy, and unforgettable flavor.. We will discuss your wedding itself, cake inspiration and flavor selections. This is the perfect opportunity to taste amazing cake flavors and have a one-on-one conversation about all the details and design elements of your dream cake. It is my job to make you comfortable with the cake ordering process and answer any questions. You must have a date set for your wedding and a venue booked before scheduling an appointment.
You may start the process by filling out the form which can be found above. The form is easy to fill out, and it is where I get some basic information about your special day. Whether you're planning an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, we're here to help create your perfect cake. The order request includes a place to list your venue, describe your wedding theme and style, upload reference photos, as well as a current menu to select three preliminary cake and filling flavors. Upon receiving your form, I will contact you via email (or phone) to start discussing details (like color, fillings, decorations, etc). And you can ask more questions!
Consultation appointments are $35, and when you officially reserve your date with a deposit, that $35 will be credited towards your wedding cake order. Appointments typically last about 45 - 60 minutes. *Extra sample plates are available for $15 each (note: additional samples are not eligible for order credit).
I am a home baker located near Van Alstyne, TX. The consultation is held at a mutually agreed upon location. We can meet at either of two local coffee shops in Van Alstyne, Honeylu's Coffee or Myth & Ember Coffee House, both offering comfortable consultation spaces. If meeting is not convenient, you may also pick up a "to go" box.
Sooner the better! It is never too early to book a date for your wedding or special event cake. Most weddings happen on weekends and they fill up quickly.
Feel free to bring with you saved images, color swatches and any other inspiration you may have that captures the theme, style or vision you have for your cake. During the appointment you will taste 3 cake and filling flavor combinations* of your choosing. We will discuss your budget and guest count. Your cake should be uniquely crafted to you and together we can find the right balance between size, servings and budget.
I will provide you with a written summary of the information gathered from our meeting in the form of a quote as well as a contract. The contract details how to make payment should you wish to proceed with your order. The contract helps us both be on the same page with terms and policies, and also holds me accountable to fulfill my obligations to you.
After we work out the details of your order, the contract will have payment schedule or you may pay in full. Please note an order is not confirmed until all of the details are worked out and a deposit or payment in full is received. More details are on the wedding contract.
